Trillium Health Partners is one of the largest community-based acute care facilities in Canada. Comprised of the Credit Valley Hospital, the Mississauga Hospital and the Queensway Health Centre, Trillium Health Partners serves the growing and diverse populations of Mississauga, West Toronto and surrounding communities.  As part of Trillium Health Partners’ new strategy, the hospital became a teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Toronto and research became a strategic priority.  In support of this priority, Trillium Health Partners’ research institute, the Institute for Better Health, was created.

 

The CAN Health Network is a national partnership with leading Canadian health organizations (Edges) and companies across Canada’s six major regions that work together under the same National Network to introduce new technologies into the health care system, and pave the way for Canadian businesses to scale and spread across Canada and globally.

 

Description:

 

THP is seeking an experienced Operations Manager for the CAN Health Network, a national network of health organizations working to test and scale promising Canadian health technologies.  Reporting to the Director of Operations, CAN Health Network, the Operations Manager will be primarily responsible for  empowering the members across the Network to deliver high-value projects, improve processes, and provide the national Network with the right tools and capabilities for sustainable growth.

 

This role will have exposure to high-profile projects involving multiple organizations across the province and the country, be instrumental in supporting the development of policies, processes and infrastructure the regional Ontario Network and the National Network, and require collaboration with a variety of stakeholders, including senior management, scientists, research staff, innovation hubs, and key private sector stakeholders.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the national leader for project teams; use your influence to lead project teams across the national Network, own the project plans (eg.Gantt charts), lead and coordinate execution of all the activities required for project execution and Network optimization.
  • Oversee the work of the other Network partner organizations to ensure that they are following the CAN Health project methodology and increase their ability to execute CAN Health projects on time, on budget, and to the level of required quality.
  • Translate strategies into program/project plans; including scope management, stakeholder management, deliverables (KPIs), schedule, budget management, risk management and resource requirements.
  • Establish and lead proactive, transparent, and effective communications cadence to ensure timely dissemination of information with all teams.
  • Hold project team accountable to critical milestone dates; highlighting opportunities for acceleration; clearly communicating project delays and escalations.
  • Prepare project documentation including proposals, project plans, budgets, meeting agendas and presentations
  • Work with the THP Institute for Better Health to grow THP’s ability to be a mentor organization to the other health organization partners in the CAN Health Network

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Successful completion of either a university degree or college diploma in business, clinical/health informatics, computer science, or health-related discipline
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in project or operations management in healthcare environments such as hospitals, government or private sector required.
  • Ability to influence without authority, motivate, lead, coach, and develop employees, and collaborate with functional leaders and teams.
  • Exceptional project management skills, with proven ability to clearly define objectives and priorities, establish milestones, anticipate and mitigate risks, lead cross-functional teams to meet and exceed goals in a dynamic environment, while maintaining strong attention to detail and quick recall.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal); briefing, presentation (incl. preparation of materials), education/training skills.
  • Experience managing with ambiguity; demonstrated ability to take ownership of problems, exercise sound judgment and independently determine appropriate course of action where precedent may not exist.
  • Self-starter demonstrating flexibility and ability to provide leadership under pressure whilst dealing with ambiguity in a fast-changing environment.
  • Strong understanding of design thinking, agile and other innovation methodology preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, time management and project management skills with demonstrated ability to multi task and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Effective interpersonal communications skills and ability to successfully build relationships with senior leaders, scientists, frontline clinicians and business partners.
  • Ability to travel in Canada for up to 50%.
