Qualifications:

·         Candidate will be a diploma graduate of a recognized college or school of nursing or equivalent (i.e., certificate RPN with added courses in medication administration, phlebotomy, and health assessment)

·         Current certification or eligibility for certification of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario is required

·         Current BCLS required

·         Minimum of 2 years acute care medical/surgical experience required

·         Ambulatory care preferred

·         Demonstrates knowledge, experience and the ability to care for patients with the following:  IV therapy and administration of medication above the drip chamber, blood glucose monitoring, wound management skills, infection control practices

·         Previous experience in providing and delivering patient/family teaching including

·         Demonstrated ability to provide patient/family centered care

·         Strong interpersonal, organizational, prioritization and problem-solving skills

·         Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team in a fast paced environment

·         Evidence of ongoing, current professional development

·         Computer literate:  Meditech, Word and Outlook

·         A positive work and attendance record is essential
