Base Rate: $96,200

Job Rate (Experienced hire): $120,250

Max Rate (Maximum salary potential, achieved by progressing through this band): $144,350

Job Description:

 

Reporting directly to the Program Director, Surgery and Peri-Operative Programs, with accountability to the Surgery Program Chief & Medical Director and the Peri-Operative Medical Director/Site Lead, the Peri-Operative Clinical Manager is an integral member of the Program’s leadership team.    The successful candidate will excel in operational effectiveness with a diverse clinical team; is committed to patient-centred care; and has a passion for leading workplace transformation within an inter-professional team environment.  The primary accountability of the Manager is to facilitate the creation of a single patient experience in partnership with all key stakeholders.  This is accomplished through a focus on the following key areas and courage when leading the delivery of an exceptional patient and staff experience.

  • Strategic initiatives that are aligned with THP goals - quality, access and sustainability
  • Quality improvement initiatives – patient outcomes, patient safety/relations, employee engagement
  • Resource utilization – operational and fiscal, standardization, quality based procedures
  • Implementation of strategies to advance healthy workplace   

 In particular, we are seeking a dynamic leader who has demonstrated the ability to think critically and strategically and lead complex cultural change in a fast-paced environment to achieve results.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership to plan, coordinate and effectively manage resources
  • Oversee the quality of care delivered by the inter-professional team in collaboration with the Clinical Educator(s), Program Director, Physician Chief/Medical Director and Physician Division Heads/Site lead
  • Oversee the effective management of patient flow for surgery patients across the continuum from the Pre-Operative Assessment Clinic to the day of surgery and follow-up in the clinics post discharge or from the Emergency Department to the clinic avoiding a hospital admission
  • Recognize, assess and mitigate risks related to patient care/safety and staff/physician safety
  • Review, analyze and apply data to support decision-making and continuously improve quality as well as innovative plans to achieve performance targets
  • Manage all aspects of employee relations including: human resource planning; recruitment, performance management; coaching/mentoring and professional development
  • Support and facilitate a delivery of care model that enhances patient focused care, professional practice and accountability to achieve and/or exceed clinical practice
  • Actively participates in committees, both internal and external, to promote collaboration and coordination of services with all stakeholders and partners
  • Facilitates and/or delivers staff education

Qualifcations: 

  • Regulated Health Professional in good standing
  • Baccalaureate degree required
  • Master’s degree or current registration in a Graduate program strongly preferred
  • Minimum of five years of progressive leadership experience in clinical operations; experience in surgery/perioperative services preferred
  • Track record in innovative and successful program development preferred
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity in a complex and fast-paced environment
  • Proven success in managing change and transforming workplace culture
  • Proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities
  • Effective employee engagement, team building and creative thinking skills
  • Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, problem solving, negotiation, conflict resolution and decision making skills are essential
  • Advanced working knowledge of computers and relevant software
