Job Description:

 

As part of the laboratory team the successful candidate will be responsible for performing duties in the Microbiology Laboratory including specimen receipt, handling, sample preparation for processing, equipment maintenance, dispatching of referred out tests, result entry, inventory assessment and ordering and communication with other health professionals as required.

                                                         

Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of an accredited Laboratory Assistant course or working toward completion of a Medical Laboratory Technologist program.
  • OSMT (Ontario Society of Medical Technology) , or CSMLS (Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science) certification preferred
  • Experience with and demonstrated understanding of quality assurance and good laboratory practice
  • Recent experience Microbiology Laboratory
  • Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge/experience in Molecular techniques.

  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently
  • Attention to detail and ability to multi-task
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Satisfactory attendance and performance required
