Hours of Work/Shifts: Day shifts; Monday to Friday 8 am to 5 pm, typically Monday & Wednesday. Flexibility in hours is expected. Some evenings required and weekends may also be required

Overview:

 

In your role as Behaviour Therapist, Peel Behavioural Services, under the supervision of a Senior Behaviour Therapist, you will be responsible for providing clinical services in alignment with both the Psychotherapy Act and the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. This would include ensuring the use of evidenced based practice and best practice where available within the theoretical framework of Psychotherapy and Applied Behavioural Analysis as well as within the identified scope of practice.  Additionally, you would be responsible for ensuring that your work maintains alignment with the organizational goals of the hospital.

 

Job Description:

 

The BT will be responsible for the following Job Duties and Responsibilities:

 

 Under the supervision of a Senior Behaviour Therapist, you will:

  • Be an active team member providing ABA based services to clients within the PBS Program
  • Develop and provide educational sessions, workshops/presentations, both in group and individual formats, to client’s caregivers and community members.
  • Provide one-to-one mediator model services to caregivers and other service providers
  • Provide direct and indirect client interventions based on empirically sound principals of ABA
  • Be responsible for detailed data collection, behavioural observations and documentation related to client treatment and supervision
  • Be involved in the assessment, development and implementation of programs, reports and recommendations
  • Engage in activities related to skill development and professional development as required
  • Attend and be an active member in regular team and program-wide meetings
  • Complete additional duties as required

Qualifications: 

  • Master’s Degree preferred (Psychology, Applied Disability Studies or Related Field)
  • University degree in social services, psychology or a related field
  • BCBA required
  • Registration with a college licensed to practice psychotherapy considered an asset
  • Work experience in the field of Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA)
  • Experience working with persons with developmental disabilities and ASD
  • Must have strong communication skills (written & verbal)
  • Ability to work independently and under the supervision of a Senior Behaviour Therapist
  • Experience with Word and Excel programs
  • Track record of excellence working individually as well as a team member
  • Commitment to organizational values including: excellence, collaboration, accountability, respect and compassion.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, and Power Point preferred
  • Positive attendance and work record essential
  • Must provide own transportation and a valid driver’s license with access to a dependable vehicle
  • Must have vulnerable persons police check
  • Proficiency in another language is an asset
