A key enabler to THP’s strategic plan is data and analytics. The Performance and Business Intelligence portfolio, in collaboration with teams across THP, will design, architect, govern and deploy high quality data and analytics, to support strategic performance insights and planning to enable THP’s mission of ‘A New Kind of Health Care for a Healthier Community’. Building upon several key achievements, this portfolio will continue to advance the development of an enterprise health data strategy and roadmap. The Performance and Business Intelligence portfolio is made up of Performance Analytics and Case Costing, the Business Planning Office, and the Business Intelligence Department. The Clinical Systems and Informatics portfolio is made up of our Epic applications and training teams focusing on the support and continued growth of our Epic platform, our clinical operating platform, the Clinical Enterprise Data Warehouse (Cogito), and Clinical Informatics which supports all clinical applications across THP.

 

Reporting into both the VP of Performance and Business and Intelligence and the VP of Clinical Systems and Informatics, the Business Intelligence department’s mandate is to plan, build, implement, and govern exceptional data infrastructure and solutions that are efficient, sustainable, and secure. We are advocates of data governance industry best practices (inclusive of data literacy, data quality, and data management) while providing reporting and analytics, and data visualization for our progressive enterprise.

 

Position Summary:

 

Reporting to Manager of Cogito and Business Intelligence and working closely with the THP@home Office; a program supporting patients in their own home by providing customized professional services and equipment the Senior Advisor, Business Intelligence will be a key team member in building our data infrastructure in THP’s strategy to address hospital capacity pressures by expanding integrated hospital to home care. Integrated hospital to home care and the THP@home Office is rapidly expanding to support additional patient groups and their care and is working towards building and consolidating systems for clinical documentation, monitoring and evaluation, financial billing and reconciliation, remote care monitoring, patient and family education, and partner performance management.


In addition, the Senior Advisor will also be responsible for running BI project solutions and moving the needle on the skill set of Business Intelligence team. A self-motivated individual with exceptional technical, theoretical, communication and analytical skills with a demonstrated commitment to customer service will excel in this position.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Expert Knowledge of Data modeling, SSRS, SSAS, Tabular Models/Cubes, SQL Server (2016 – 2023), PowerPivot, PowerView, and advanced SQL Scripting. Will help to advise, coordinate, direct and model BI Solutions in SSRS, Power BI, EPIC, Data warehousing, BI developed data applications.
  • Provide Leadership in Modelling and Developing Business Intelligence systems including documenting business requirements, data warehousing, reports, BI solutions, and Data Governance.
  • Expert analysis to identify opportunities, appropriateness of technology, and resolve issues in BI applications, solutions.
  • Education of clients regarding data literacy and data governance.
  • Design and develop dashboards and scorecards and reports using a third-party report writing tool such as SSRS, Power BI, or Tableau, to display data from a reporting server,
  • Build extracts using SQL, enterprise (EPIC,MS )reporting tools against enterprise systems (Clarity, Caboodle, Data warehouse).
  • Build analytical registries within Epic that align with integrated care pathways.
  • Project management support to facilitate advanced analytics, development of BI solutions, upgrades, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Be a leading voice in weekly meetings with team members to discuss the status of deliverables, shared issues, end user concerns, and upcoming milestones.
  • Identify issues that arise in the application area as well as issues that impact other application teams and advise on work to resolve them.
  • Be a leader in testing, debugging and deployment of all BI solutions and web applications following industry standard SDLC – Software Development Life Cycle procedures.
  • Provide professional internal and client-facing documentation (SRS - System Requirement Specifications, BRD - Business Requirements Documentation etc.) through a combination of wireframes, workflow diagrams and written documentation.
  • Achieve certification in vendor’s application as required.

 

Key Qualifications:

  • University Degree in Computer Science or Community College Diploma (3-year program)
  • Microsoft BI certification is considered an asset.
  • 3 plus years’ experience in SQL Server (2016 – 2022)
  • Theoretical and Applicable knowledge to design and development in SSRS 2016+, Power BI, EPIC reporting software
  • Knowledge and experience using Epic relational databases (Clarity and Caboodle)
  • Theoretical and Applicable knowledge creating analytical registries within Epic.
  • Lead in requirement gathering sessions, document user requirements and translate them into useful solutions.
  • Experience in maintaining proper data governance best practices.
  • Theoretical and Applicable knowledge in SQL programming and stored procedures
  • Experience with Visual studio 2016+ and TFS (Team Foundation Server)
  • Theoretical and Applicable knowledge to in Data Architecting and development in Microsoft BI Stack (SSRS, SSIS, SSAS, .Net, SharePoint) and EPIC reporting software
  • Experience troubleshooting data models and performance tuning of SQL scripts, stored procedures and SSRS reports.
  • Knowledge of SQL Server security and administration
  • Experience using, designing, and developing Data Marts and Models
  • Theoretical and Applicable knowledge in SQL database technologies
  • Knowledge of mobile application design is considered an asset.
