Unit Summary:

THP is a Regional Cardiac Program providing services and care in collaboration with our Regional Partners. The CCU at Mississauga Hospital is a 14 bed Level 3 Critical Care Unit working closely with our Cath Lab and Cardiology department to care for a wide variety of complex cardiac patients. Being a Regional Program, our unit is fast paced, high energy and highly skilled, the perfect place to advance your cardiac knowledge and skill while being part of a highly effective team. 

 

Qualifications:

THP is committed to internal talent, and therefore priority will be given to internal applicants.

  • Registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) or currently meet the eligibility criteria to register in good standing in the Temporary Class or General Class with the CNO 
  • Currently enrolled and have already commenced a recognized Critical Care Certificate Program
  • BCLS required
  • ACLS required within 6 months of hire
  • Current Coronary Care Level 1 and 2 Certificate Required
  • Recent experience and exposure in Intensive Care nursing preferred
  • Advanced physical assessment skills
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and effectively in order to prioritize needs in emergency situations
  • Highly effective decision making, problem solving and organizational skills combined with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Strong leadership & assessment skills
  • History of ongoing professional development and be a self-directed learner; demonstrated by evidence of continuous learning, required
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and commitment to customer service and teamwork
  • Experienced in patient education and sharing knowledge of expected outcomes and care
  • Positive attendance and work record essential
