Unit Summary:
THP is a Regional Cardiac Program providing services and care in collaboration with our Regional Partners. 2C Cardiology is a 50-bed inpatient, acute care unit. We support a wide variety of complex cardiac patients, while working closely with Cardiac Cath Lab, Cardiac Short Stay and Coronary Care Unit. We primarily focus on medical management and minimally invasive procedures to care for our patients in their unique care needs. We also support off-service patients with telemetry needs. We have a broad team of skilled, interdisciplinary professionals to support our patients, and ensure they receive the best care possible while in our care.
Qualifications:
THP is committed to internal talent, and therefore priority will be given to internal applicants.
- Candidate will be a diploma graduate of a recognized college or school of nursing or equivalent (i.e. certificate RPN with added course in medication administration, phlebotomy and health assessment)
- Registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) or currently meet the eligibility criteria to register in good standing in the Temporary Class or General Class with the CNO
- Current BCLS
- Successfully completed the Coronary Care 1 course or committed to completing the course within the next six months
- Minimum of 1-year acute care medicine/cardiac experience required
- Telemetry experience preferred
- A physical assessment course required
- Recent experience with inpatient cardiology population preferred
- Demonstrates knowledge, experience and the ability to care for patients with the following: initiation and maintenance of IV therapy, administration of medication above the drip chamber, blood and blood product administration, blood glucose monitoring, nasogastric tubes, wound management skills, routine and additional infection control precautions, normal and abnormal lab values
- Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) completion preferred
- Previous experience in providing and delivering patients and families with educational teaching
- Demonstrates excellence in communication skills and interprofessional team work
- Demonstrates a strong ability to facilitate patient and family-centred care and establish therapeutic relationships
- Evidence of on-going professional development
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge with EPIC and computer skills preferred
- A positive work and attendance record is essential

- Abdominal, pelvic, obstetrical, breast imaging and small parts are required
- Knowledge of musculoskeletal, neuro-sonography and vascular imaging are assets
- Assist in Interventional biopsy procedures
- Perform portable exams
Qualifications:
- Candidate must have successfully completed a Sonography program from a recognized institution
- Must be registered and in good standing with CMRITO
- Current hospital experience is preferred
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment
- Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team
- Superior organizational skills, multi-tasking abilities with good attention to detail

Position Overview
Reporting directly to the Director, In-Patient Medicine, with accountability to the Program Chief & Medical Director, Medicine, the Clinical Manager, is an integral member of the Program’s leadership team. This role has responsibility for a team on Unit 1B Medicine at the Credit Valley Hospital. Unit 1B-Medicine is currently an acute, in-patient unit whose team cares for patients with complex and often chronic medical conditions.
The successful candidate will excel in operational effectiveness; is committed to patient-centred design; and has a passion for leading workplace transformation within an inter-professional setting.

Leadership Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate and effectively manage resources and operations (e.g. financial, human, physical space, equipment and materials, day to day operations) in alignment with the Hospital’s strategic plan.
- Oversee the quality of care delivered by the inter-professional team in collaboration with the other leaders in the Program, and partners in Quality and Risk, Professional Practice and Human Resources.
- Accountable for medicine patient flow and the effective management of patient transitions within and beyond the hospital.
- Recognize, assess and mitigate risks related to patient care and provider safety.
- Implement and monitor recommendations associated with patient safety incidents.
- Review, analyze and apply program performance data to support decision-making and continuous quality improvement.
- Responsible for overall target of achieving results related to improving patient experience, improving measurable quality outcomes, financial stewardship and provider/staff joy in work.
- Manage all aspects of employee relations including: human resource planning; recruitment, performance management; coaching/mentoring and professional development.
- Manage unit specific aspects of patient relations including managing complaints, liaising with patient relations, communicating with patients and their families.
- Actively lead components of and support the overall execution of the In-Patient Medicine work plan.
- Foster a culture of wellness and Joy in work within the unit and broad Inpatient Medicine team.
- Proven ability to lead a team of healthcare professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment focused on patient safety, quality of care, and adherence to best practice.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in managing a telemetry unit within a medical setting, including overseeing the optimization, and continuous improvement of telemetry monitoring within Medicine.
Qualifications
- Regulated Health Professional in Ontario; Nursing background preferred Baccalaureate degree required; Master’s degree preferred (e.g. Health Administration, Leadership, Quality).
- Minimum five years of formal leadership experience in clinical operations, preferably in hospital setting.
- Excellent performance and attendance record required.
- Excellent oral, written and non-verbal communication skills.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity in a complex and fast-paced environment.
- Proven success in managing change and transforming workplace culture.
