Position Summary:
The (Inpatient) Unit Coordination Assistant (UCA) provides clerical support for patient adminstrative services; information management; unit reception; ensures the clerical administration and operation of the unit; and performs other duties consistent with the job classification as required.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Patient Administrative Services
- Liaises with internal departments and external healthcare facilities to book/cancel tests, appointments, internal patient transfer, external patient transport/escort, etc, as required.
- Works collaboratively with the clinical quality acre leader/charge nurse to facilitate patient flow in and out of the inpatient unit
- Transcribes and enters patient orders including medication, lab and imaging orders into appropriate system.
- Enters data including patient tests, medication, appointments, menu/diet orders, patient transfer and discharge plan of care.
- Notifies appropriate personnel of patient movement, test results, appointments and other patient information in a timely and accurate manner.
- Creates and maintains charts. Ensures required forms are received, completed correctly and put into patient file.
- Responsible to maintain current patient charts and following proper processes for adminssion, discharge and transfer of patients medical information and documentation
Information Management
- Prepares and updates patient charts with lab reports, test results and other pertinent information. Scans and copies chart, pharmacy orders and other information as required.
- Ensures patient charts are sent to Health Records with all accurate and required patient information.
Reception
- Greets visitors and staff, directing them to appropriate personnel and/or destination/room providing assistance as required.
- Greets and admits patients to the unit. May also perform unit patient registration function, confirming/validating patient demographic, insurance (including OHIP) and other required information as appropriate.
- Explains hospital policy and procedures to patients, visitors and staff as necessary (including infection prevention and control).
- Answers the telephone and/or intercom in a professional and respectful manner using the NOD (name, occupation and designation), responding to enquiries and directing to most appropriate person.
- Takes, prioritizes and relays messages for unit staff and/or patients. Locates unit staff, pages healthcare professionals as required.
- Open, sort and distribute incoming mail and other materials.
Ensures efficient clerical administration and operation of the unit within scope of authority
- Assists with sick replacement and vacation back fill as required.
- Updates department "fan-out" list as required.
- Requisitions and maintains office/medical supplies; counts and labels inventory as required. May be required to stock unit carts and/or supply areas.
- Ensures equipment and furniture are operational. Prepares work order requests for preventative and restorative maintenance/repair as required.
- Contacts environmental services for cleaning of equipment and/or unit as required
- Processes routine financial transactions including unit supply/inventory purchase and charges for services/items not covered by patient's healthcare plan.
- Compiles statistical data to generate and prepare standardized reports on a monthly basis.
Performs cross-functional, and/or, other duties consistent with the job classification, as required.
Works in compliance of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations, reporting hazards, deficiencies and contravention’s of the Act, in a timely manner.
Qualifications
- Completion of high school or recognized equivalent is required.

Our comprehensive Regional Cancer Centre, an integrated cancer program of the Credit Valley Hospital site in partnership with Cancer Care Ontario will provide a broad range of cancer services including radiation treatment, systemic therapy, supportive care, surgical oncology prevention, screening and clinical research to patients and their families in the Peel-Halton Region. The current population served exceeds 1.5 million.
The Abdominal/Pelvic Contouring Clinical Specialist Radiation Therapist (CSRT) will work in collaboration with Radiation Oncologists and Radiation Therapists and use their advanced technical knowledge and skills in their specialty to act as a lead in contouring in disease sites involving the abdomen/pelvic area, namely gynecological, genitourinary, and gastrointestinal sites. The CSRT is a registered Radiation Therapist who has acquired advanced knowledge and skills through a combination of formal courses (e.g. Master’s Degree), workplace learning, and professional development activities.
Using their expert knowledge of the available treatment planning system, the CSRT will accurately localize anatomical structures and regions of interest and make the clinical and technical decisions required to ensure optimal planning and treatment of patients within the specified disease site. The CSRT works closely with the multi-disciplinary radiation oncology team and serves as a valuable technical and clinical resource using their advanced knowledge of available radiation therapy technology, treatment planning and treatment delivery and radiation therapy software systems.
The CSRT will continually research emerging technologies and advancements in principles of best practice to enhance the delivery and continuous development of quality radiation treatment services within the Radiation Oncology Program. The CSRT will develop education programs for peers, other health care professionals and students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilizes and demonstrates a comprehensive theoretical knowledge base and advanced level of clinical competence in radiation therapy practice to ensure the provision of quality care that is safe, effective, and efficient.
- Review and interpret clinical information including pathology, imaging, and test results etc., to determine clinical target definition and perform image fusion of multiple modalities in order to enhance anatomical visualization and identification.
- In collaboration with the Radiation Oncologist and utilizing recognized protocols, they will localize and contour the relevant structures (e.g. OARs, CTVs)
- Identify/contour relevant organs and regions of interest for use in the creation of an optimized radiation treatment plan where appropriate.
- Provide technical, imaging, and dosimetric consultation during all phases of the radiation treatment process.
- Assess images for anatomical changes to targets and OAR positions and shape during treatment and provide direction to treatment staff.
- Employ technical expertise in patient preparation, dosimetry, and image guidance for the defined patient populations.
- Apply advanced technical knowledge to improve the integration of existing technology and/or facilitate the application of new technology throughout practice where applicable.
- Participate in the development/revision of practice guidelines, protocols, policies, and procedures.
- Actively participates on professional association activities, e.g., by serving on a committee, participating on task/working groups.
- Collaborate with the provincial program through the communities of practice to foster best practice across the province.
- Uses project management principles to plan/oversee projects.
- Assess staff knowledge of radiation treatment of abdominal and pelvic cancers and related supportive care and identify need for continuing education. Collaborate with Clinical Educator to provide ongoing education and support when required.
- Provide opportunities for ongoing professional development of radiation therapy staff by delivering presentations and educational sessions, creating development plans and materials as required.
- Contribute to the scholarly endeavors of the abdominal/pelvic site groups through collaboration and participation in existing research studies, including brachytherapy.
- Provide leadership and support in strategic planning and goal setting for the program.
- Contribute to the optimal function of the health care team through continual assessment, evaluation, and self-reflection.
Qualifications:
- Qualified Radiation Therapist with current membership with the CMRTO
- Membership in the CAMRT
- Minimum 7 years of experience as a Radiation Therapist preferred
- Minimum 3 years of dosimetry or comparable experience preferred
- Completion of or in progress of a master’s level or higher degree preferred
- Current BCLS certification
- Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, and project management skills.

The Department of Enterprise Risk and Emergency Preparedness is a corporate portfolio that provides leadership and operational support for the achievement of strategic directions and corporate objectives of THP. The department provides a full-range of risk management services, which includes the functional areas of: enterprise risk management, claims management, emergency management, and business continuity. The department serves as the corporate catalyst that enables the advancement of a comprehensive and continuous enterprise risk process where risks are identified, analyzed, and mitigated within acceptable risk tolerances.
Reporting to the Manager of Enterprise Risk and Emergency Preparedness, the Risk Analyst will be responsible for supporting the daily work of the department, which includes, but is not limited to the following.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
RL6 System Resource:
- Be the system resource for the hospital’s electronic incident reporting system (RL6).
- Maintain the RL6 application, support system upgrade/optimizations, application changes, general testing activities; and
- Provide RL6 system training to new users and frontline staff upon request.
Incident Data Analysis:
- Extract and analyze RL6 incident data to produce both routine and ad-hoc department, program, and corporate reports;
- Examine and assess RL6 data systems and sources to ensure data accuracy, quality, and security, and provide recommendations for improvements; and
- Leverage incident management data to support program and corporate strategic planning and quality improvement initiatives.
RL6 System Design:
- Liaise with the RL6 vendor to optimize system useability and maximize system functionality;
- Work with subject matter experts in IS to support system stability; and
- Partner with relevant internal teams and committees to improve the user interface of the application.
Collaboration:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, programs, and committees with regards to safety incident data requests to support project success and alignment with organizational goals; and
- Support the planning, coordination, communications, and engagement processes across key departmental priorities.
Teamwork: Partner with the Risk Consultants to support leadership, programs, and units, to:
- Support the development and dissemination of Enterprise Risk Management reports as needed,
- Assist, when needed, with the medical malpractice claims management. This includes coordinating the receipt of legal documents, and supporting investigations of potential and actual claims events.
- Work with the Risk Consultants to support the management of product and practice alerts and recalls.
- Act as the project coordinator for key departmental priorities.
Corporate Reporting:
- Support data analysis and development of presentation materials (including Monthly RL6 report) to all levels of the organization, including program leadership, senior management, and Board of Directors.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor degree is required;
- Minimum of 1-3 year of risk management or related experience strongly preferred;
- Minimum of 1-3 year of healthcare industry or related experience strongly preferred;
- Prior experience with the RL6 Application is an asset;
- Excellent communication skills - ability to articulate analytical results and tell a story;

- Provide information and supportive services to other referring agents and liaise closely with other service providers to ensure optimum delivery of services.

4J Neurosurgery and 3J Neurosurgery Special Care Unit provide care for patients admitted electively for planned surgery as well as through our Emergency Department and Critical Care services.
4J Neurosurgery is a 14-bed unit that supports the care of patients who have been diagnosed with brain tumours, subdural hematoma, subarachnoid hemorrhage and arterial venous malformations. As the Regional Centre for Neurosurgery, 4J Neurosurgery offers a wealth of learning opportunities in peri-operative nursing.
3J Neurosurgery Special Care Unit is an 8-bed unit with a nursing ratio 2:1 that provides high observation to Neurosurgery patients post-operatively and patients with higher care needs than can be managed on a ward level.
Together, 4J Neurosurgery and 3J Special Care Unit are supported by an inter-disciplinary team of RNs and RPNs, CQCL, Charge Nurses, Physician Assistants, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, OTA/PTA, Speech Language Pathologists, Discharge Planners, Dieticians, Pharmacists and Neurosurgeons. The team provides exceptional, patient-centred care in a collaborative and integrated manner. As a part of an academic centre, our team participates in ongoing research, quality improvement and professional development initiatives.

Job Description:
Reporting to the Director, Technology & Infrastructure Services, the Manager, Datacentre and Infrastructure Services is responsible for planning and maintaining the technical infrastructure in the hospital. This position manages the technical services staff and coordination of hospital-wide technical support for clients. The Data Centre Operations will also work closely with the IT executive staff, decision makers and peers in other departments in order to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the hospital.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Data Centre Operations department operational planning and projects, and organize and negotiate the allocation of IT resources.
- Work with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations.
- Ensure the efficient utilization of IT resources – including personnel and equipment – across the organization.
- Oversee all reports and documentation related to network and systems operations
- Develop maintenance schedules for infrastructure.
- Conduct system feasibility studies and testing.
- Develop and implement all functional policies and procedures, including those for system architecture, standards, purchasing, and service provision
- Assist in the provisioning of end-user services, including help desk and technical support services
- Practice asset management for IT hardware, software, and equipment in the Data Centre
- Develop strategies and technology roadmaps to evolve the solutions and infrastructure to align with the technology needs of the organization and increase the value of the IT investment, and implement those strategies
- Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives.
- Approve purchase of equipment and supplies in order to meet operational requirements of the hospital.
- Analyze existing operations and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the IT systems.
- Conduct research and remain current with the latest technologies and solutions in support of procurement efforts.
- Develop requests for proposal and requirement documents
Qualifications:
- University Degree and/or equivalent experience required
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in a senior technical roll is required
- Previous managerial experience is an asset
- Experience in a hospital or health care setting preferred
- Experience with EPIC EHR/EMR is and asset
- Technical awareness of Infrastructure specific technologies and best practices
- Proven experience in IT infrastructure planning and development
- General knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and IT Security
- ITIL v4 certification is an asset
- Knowledge of QMS preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills among vendors, clients, peers, and executives;
- Strong presentation skills to present and possibly persuade to achieve the desired outcome/results;
- Strong analytic skills to review present situations and make recommendations for the long term
- Proven success in providing strong leadership
- Experience in resource allocation management in an environment with competing priorities
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate teamwork

In collaboration with the Institute for Better Health, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services has an exciting opportunity for a Child and Youth Worker as part of in an innovative pilot project for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Urgent Care Services!
As an integral member of the inter-professional team; the Child and Youth Worker support the inter-professional team in providing developmentally appropriate, safety planning, psycho-education and skills teaching to Children, youth and their families who have presented for Urgent Mental Health Care and have been diagnosed with a moderate to severe mental illness. The Child and Youth Worker has a crucial role acting as liaison with patients, their families, the schools and other community organizations.
As a member of the Child and Adolescent Mental Health team reporting to the Program Clinical Manager; the Child and Youth Worker’s principle responsibilities include:
- Providing skill based assessment and counselling/behavioural intervention services with children, youth and families with the primary goal being stabilization at home and in the community of the child/youth;
- Developing and providing intervention programming on an individual and group counselling level and recreational programming activities with children and youth and families congruent with individualized treatment plans;
- Assisting in case planning, transitional and discharge planning, documentation and review of client progress;
- Conducting community visits to support issues such as school attendance, behavior plans, etc.
- Maintaining client files to all standards and complete monthly audits as required;
- Contributing to the development of individualized behaviour and/or treatment plans in consultation with families, clients, the interprofessional team, and community agencies based on the identified strengths, needs and objectives of the child, youth, and family;
- Liaise with family, community partners and schools to ensure a clear discharge plan for patients receiving treatment in the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Urgent Care Services who have met their stabilization goals.

- Participate in scheduled program and individual meetings for clinical and administrative supervision

Key Qualifications:
- Advanced Diploma or Degree in Child and Youth Care, or, equivalent education, training, and experience in the field of Child and Youth Work;
- 3-5 years of experience in providing mental health services to children and youth;
- Must have knowledge of children's psycho-social development
- Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in the field of hospital based services;
- Ability to handle emergency, crisis, and hostile behaviour situations in a professional manner;
- Demonstrated ability to form meaningful relationships with children, youth and parents/guardians;
- Experience in working with high conflict families and the skill set in deescalating conflict.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and implement behaviour management strategies and counselling groups/programs;
- Must have competency in assessing risk issues and being able to address concerns within the community
- Understanding of the school system and support within the Mississauga community.

Trillium Health Partners is once again looking to Invest in Our People (IIOP) by expanding our expertise in the area of Critical Care. We are offering qualified Registered Nurses (RNs) the opportunity to take the Critical Care Certificate Program by paying for their tuition and supporting them while they attend the program.
This program is designed for RNs with a desire to learn and advance their skills. We are devoted to ensuring the best learning experiences and developing future members of our critical care team. On completion of the IIOP program, participants will have foundational, theoretical and practical critical care knowledge and experiences for a successful start as a novice critical care RN. This program requires a significant commitment from both THP and the RN.
To meet this goal, THP is collaborating with Michener Institute to provide the critical care nurse certification course (11 weeks). Michener is a leading academic institution in Ontario. It is known for its small class sizes, faculty who are experienced health care professionals, and flexible supportive learning formats.
Investing in Our People – Critical Care Certificate Program components:
- Online and in person learning
- Virtual classes and asynchronous online learning through Michener Institute
- Hands on clinical practicum (part of Michener critical care course requirements)
- Small group simulation based learning and skills building
- Supportive learning environments
- Clinical placement facilitated by experienced critical care nurses
- Dedicated critical care nurse educator and program leader to help the learner succeed
- Mentorship opportunities
Upon successful completion of the Critical Care Certificate Program, individuals will work in a permanent full time capacity as a Critical Care nurse. It is important to note that a commitment of 2 years (post course completion) dedicated to THP and this role will be required of all successful hires through this program.
Qualifications:
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario required
- BCLS required
- ACLS required within 6 months of hire
- Current Coronary Care Level 1 and 2 Certificate preferred for ICU and required for Cardiac units
- Minimum 2 years acute med/surg experience preferred
- Recent experience and exposure in Intensive Care nursing preferred
- Advanced physical assessment skills
- Ability to think critically and effectively in order to prioritize needs in emergency situations
- Highly effective decision making, problem solving and organizational skills combined with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
- Strong leadership & assessment skills
- History of ongoing professional development and be a self-directed learner
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and commitment to customer service and teamwork
- Experienced in patient education and sharing knowledge of expected outcomes and care
- Positive attendance and work record essential
